The OCAB Community Action Agency's Energy Department offers programs to assist low-income households with their energy needs. These programs aim to help families manage the costs of heating and cooling their homes and promote energy independence.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP):

LIHEAP is designed to help low-income households in South Carolina pay for home energy costs, including heating and cooling. The program also addresses energy-related emergencies and provides services to encourage households to reduce their energy needs. Payments are made directly to energy providers and credited to the applicant's bill.

Services include:

- Assistance with utility payments, including regular electric bills and deposits.
- Support for propane expenses.

Applicants must meet income and program eligibility requirements.

Community Services Block Grant (CSBG):

The CSBG program aims to promote self-sufficiency by helping low-income individuals develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to manage life challenges. Services are designed to strengthen individual and family competencies, enabling them to mobilize resources and support to address existing problems and future aspirations.

State Community Service Programs include:

- Employment assistance
- Education support
- Income management
- Rental assistance
- Emergency services
- Nutrition programs
